I never in my wildest imagination thought that we would miss an entire week of school and other activities due to snow and ice, but behold it has happened.
So several things are happening. Part of me is going totally crazy inside because I have not been able to leave the house and no one has entered our home all week. This much schedule disruption bothers me. I had plans for this week and this was not it. At the same time, things here are pretty darn good so...
I remember one time recently that I was whining and acting a bit like a baby and my mom encouraged me to do something that really helped. She told me to hang up the phone and make a list of things I was really thankful for. It put things in perspective and really helped.
So I have decided to do that again in regards to this house arrest week.
I am thankful that...
- I did go to the grocery store last weekend and get the things I did, we have use all of them.
- My kids get along as well as they do, it has been a blessing to not spend the week breaking up fights
- Bret has the ability to do his job from home. His presence here, although only heard through the guest room door, has lifted my spirits.
- The power has not gone off, oh what a bigger nightmare this would have been without heat, the ability to cook, and let's be honest television.
- We got some new board games and toys just a few weeks ago for Christmas. We have gotten a lot of mileage out of some new things.
- My kids are so creative. The games they have played and the things they have done to stay entertained are so funny!
- Our house is long enough that they really do have a place to run. Even stuck inside we have been able to have races to blow off some steam.
- We went out to buy a sled this year and that my kids have warm coats, hats, and gloves.
- I have an internet connection, a telephone, and cable tv.
- My sister and my mom have taken my calls. They understand that this drives someone like me even crazier than most and they have talked to me tirelessly.
- Facebook has kept me somewhat connected to reality and kept me laughing.
- For the Stones bringing us Enzo's and my parents going to Walgreens for a prescription.
- I do have my dream job, being a mom to two wonderful kids and wife to one amazing husband so staying home with these folks all week is not half bad.
I have 2 kids destroying the house and a husband still working away in the guest room, so that is all for now.
One more day here and then I will be at Publix, Target, and anywhere else I can think of very soon!
